I have just made my famous rasin and sultana scones! Thought I would share the recipe I use.

6oz of plain flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
5 tbsp cold butter
4 floz of milk

Preheat oven to 220 degrees

sift the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into a mixing bowl.
add the butter chopped into pieces and rub together between your fingers (this is called rubbing in)
the mixture should resemble bread crumbs when you are done

add you choosen fruit here, i have used chopped apple, dried mixed fruit, sulatanas. Just what ever u fancy really just dont put in too much as the dough will fall apart.

now a little at a time add the milk, mix with a fork until a soft (not sticky) dough is formed. You will not need all the milk for this.

roll out the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to about 1/2 cm think and cut out you scones using a pastry cutter.

Place onto greaseproof paper on a baking tray and glaze tops with remaining milk

Place in oven for approx. 12mins or until lightly brown and cooked through.
